Patrick Stewart announced his new marital status to the world with a playful picture of himself and his new bride on Twitter simply stating “Yes, married.”
The 73-year-old actor tied the knot to 35-year-old singer-songwriter Sunny Ozell – now his third wife. His good friend and X-Men costar Ian McKellen officiated the ceremony.
“Sir Patrick Stewart and Sunny Ozell were married on Saturday afternoon, September 7, beside Lake Tahoe in front of approximately 100 guests, including family and friends,” Stewart’s rep tells E! News. “The bride wore a white French lace dress by English designer Temperley London.”
McKellen also shared news of the ceremony on Facebook, posting a photo of him showing off his “Doctor of Divinity” certificate and a black shirt that says “Minister.” He wrote with the photo, “I did my part.”
When asked about whether he had the right qualifications for the job back in March on the Jonathan Ross Show where he mentioned he’d be doing this, McKellen said: “In Massachusetts—we’re in the middle of America somewhere—you get anybody along, a friend, and I read out the words, and Sunny and Patrick will then be married. I declare you man and wife.”
The happy couple have been together for five years after meeting at the Brooklyn Academy of Music in 2008.
Recently she posted a little acting lesson on YouTube of him showing her how to do a quadruple take. Never mind that he actually does five takes rather than four, but the video instantly went viral. Here it is:
